Logic Cleans It
We test our beliefs against evidence and reason. What holds up stays. What doesn't gets wrung out — no matter how long we've carried it.
#1 Preface — Deepermind
Not another belief system. A toolkit for your own mind — so you can think more deeply and clearly, feel more alive with genuine wisdom.
How Deepermind works
Every idea we carry can be cleaned, softened, and put to good use. That is what Deepermind is for.
We test our beliefs against evidence and reason. What holds up stays. What doesn't gets wrung out — no matter how long we've carried it.
Pure logic can be cold and brittle. Genuine feeling — not sentiment, but honest emotion — softens and directs our thinking so thinking something we can actually live by.
Clean laundry is useless if it stays in the drawer. Clean thoughts are useless unless we engage with them with direction and creativity.
The Preface
The Culture Illusion
By the time we are old enough to question anything, we have already absorbed thousands of assumptions about how life works — details about what to eat, what to believe, what success looks like, and everything that is considered normal. We have to wear matching shoes. We save our best dishes for company that never comes.
The illusion is that all of this accumulated wisdom has to be correct. Everyone, millions of people believe it. Experts endorse it. It feels like really solid ground. But belief spread wide is not the same as belief verified. A mistake repeated over and over again across generations is still a mistake.
Consider something as simple as food. We were told milk was the perfect food — by an industry that profits from selling milk. We were handed a medical system that spends twenty hours out of four years of training on nutrition, then prescribes medications for conditions that diet could address.
"We eat for mouth entertainment, and don't realize what goes in changes our body."
This is not a conspiracy. It is something more ordinary — and harder to fix. A system built around economics, convenience, and habit, mistaken for wisdom.
A generation was told this by an industry that profits from selling milk. Good in moderation — not a substitute for water.
Medical school dedicates as little as twenty hours in four years to nutrition — then prescribes drugs for conditions diet could address.
People trying to heal or learn are served nutritionally thin meals focused on the budget and not outcomes.
For most people, the inner world is hazy, no structure is seen. This vacuum pulls in religion, advertising and all the negative news. There is no censorship for the most part. We elect the wrong people, who murder people through wars, and we do nothing to stop it.
Alas, none of this is your fault. You didn't choose what went in. The water we swim in is invisible precisely because it is everywhere. But the first step toward thinking clearly is recognizing that most of what we believe was never chosen — it was culturally inherited.
Some of our culture is genuinely good such as the values of compassion and empathy. Love, care, accumulated practical wisdom were always there mixed in with noise.
What was missing and still is the culture bias against questioning and updating beliefs. The culture leaders were often quick to brand any changes as heretical. Not only was this was stagnation, it caused much misery. That is the beginning of an honest mind — and the first step toward washing out what was never clean to begin with.
Deepermind exists to explore the inner life its structure and mechanisms. It is more than synapses and brain cells. What it does not do is to hand you another set of beliefs to replace the old ones. Instead it tries to extract the best from our culture and beliefs, and leave the rest. This is akin to washing clothes, taking the dirt out but saving the closes. Here we become the soap, and have to find a posture and technique for the process.
Many people resist changing what they have always believed. But old beliefs were created by people, and you have the power to question it. If God made the universe, he made us and our mind for getting together the best information we can find. It is only natural to be skeptical about beliefs that were created long before we had science, the internet, and the fact we can investigate so many opinions. Some has a higher probability if it is believed around the world. There are disciplined methods that can be used for sorting things out as we will see.
"It is important to realize we were brought up in a certain culture so what you were lead to believe is not your fault and you ae not responsible for it. It is really best to reexamine your childhood beliefs and do some mental spring cleaning. That's what Deepermind is here for." Deepermind
"The mind that questions what it was handed is not a troubled mind. It is a mind that has finally woken up."
DeepermindContinue the Journey
The Preface sets up the problem. The rest of Deepermind offers the method.
You brought the questions. Deepermind provides the method.
Let's get to work.
